Podcast Episode #29 - You Keep Looking Outside Yourself for Answers
===
[00:00:00] Hello, and welcome back to yet another inspirational podcast episode brought to you by yours truly, Carina. I'm your truth speaker, truth seeker, truth keeper, and I am so glad that you're here with me today
Hey, it's Carina, and welcome back to Soul Medicine. If you've ever known something in your body, felt it clearly, and still talked yourself out of it, and if you've ever walked away thinking, "Why do I doubt myself even when I'm right?" this episode [00:01:00] is for you. Because self-doubt isn't a lack of intuition, it's a learned response.
By the end of this episode, you'll understand why you second-guess yourself, where the pattern actually comes from, and what it's quietly costing you emotionally and energetically. In a moment, we're gonna talk about why your nervous system learned not to trust your known, own knowing, so stay with me You feel it first.
A tightening in your chest, a drop in your stomach, a quiet knowing that something isn't right, and then your mind arrives. Maybe I'm overthinking. I'm probably wrong. I don't want to make a big deal out of this. I should just let it go. [00:02:00] So you do. And later, sometimes days, weeks, or months later, you realize you were right all along.
And instead of feeling empowered, you feel tired because this isn't the first time. This is the exhaustion of constantly second-guessing yourself, even when your inner voice was clear
Here's the truth most people miss. You don't doubt yourself because you're unsure. You doubt yourself because at some point trusting yourself was unsafe
Self-doubt is not a personality flaw. It's a nervous system strategy. [00:03:00] Many women learned early on that speaking up caused conflict. Trusting their intuition led to dismissal. Having needs made things harder. Being certain came with consequences. So your body adapted. It learned to pause, to soften, to second guess.
Not because you were wrong, but because being right once hurt
And I just want you to take a moment to notice what happens in your body when I say this You were right
Does your chest tighten? Does something brace? Do you feel [00:04:00] relief mixed with grief? Because that reaction tells us everything Because every time you doubt yourself, you're not just questioning a thought. You're overriding your body's intelligence, and that's the real cost of second-guessing yourself.
Delayed decisions, emotional exhaustion, resentment towards yourself, disconnection from your intuition, and a constant low-level anxiety that never fully settles. This is why self-doubt feels so heavy. It's not just mental, it's somatic
Here's what I want you to hear [00:05:00] clearly. You are not bad at trusting yourself. You were trained not to Your intuition didn't disappear. Your inner voice didn't break. It learned to whisper because it wasn't safe to speak at full volume And the fact that you still sense truth, even under layers of doubt, tells me how strong that voice actually is
This is why when I work with women through tarot, Reiki, and coaching, we don't start with answers. We start with safety. Reiki helps the nervous system soften, so intuition isn't drowned out by anxiety. [00:06:00] Tarot mirrors the truth you already feel but have learned to question. And coaching gently rebuilds self-trust without forcing confidence or pushing readiness.
This work isn't about becoming someone new. It's about learning how to stop abandoning yourself in moments where your body already knows
And so I invite you now to take a breath with me and place a hand on your chest if it feels comfortable And just feel the rise And feel the fall
And ask yourself, not your mind, but your body When [00:07:00] was the last time I knew something and didn't follow it?
No judgment, just noticing That awareness alone is how self-trust begins to return
You don't need to trust yourself perfectly. You only need to stop assuming that doubt means danger. Your intuition is still here. Your knowing is still intact, and just because you learned to doubt yourself doesn't mean you have to keep doing it When you're ready to sit with that gently, I'll be here ready and waiting [00:08:00] Until next time, with love, Carina
