Podcast Episode #42 - The Exhausted Leader- Competence Hides Collapse Beautifully
===
[00:00:00] Hello, and welcome back to yet another inspirational podcast episode brought to you by yours truly, Carina. I'm your truth speaker, truth seeker, truth keeper, and I am so glad that you're here with me today.
Hey, it's Carina. Welcome back to Soul Medicine. Some women don't burn out loudly. They disappear quietly inside responsibility. And if you're the woman everyone relies on, the woman who holds everything together, the woman people describe as strong, while you're secretly feeling exhausted, disconnected, resentful, or numb, [00:01:00] this episode is for you.
I'm Carina Bull, an intuitive guide, tarot advisor, reiki practitioner, coach based in regional Victoria, Australia. Through tarot, reiki, and nervous system awareness, I help emotionally overwhelmed women just like you uncover the patterns you learned to survive, so you can stop abandoning yourself and start living from truth instead of fear.
And this? This isn't a communication issue. It's a nervous system one. So stay with me. You're capable. You know how to handle things, so people hand you more. More responsibility, more emotional weight, more leadership, more decisions, more pressure. And because you can carry it, you do, until one day you [00:02:00] realize your entire life revolves around managing everyone else while no one notices you're disappearing in the process.
Here's the truth most women in leadership never say out loud. A lot of strong women are not leading from alignment. They are leading from survival, from hypervigilance, over-functioning, emotional suppression, nervous system armor. They became the dependable one because somewhere along the way, being needed felt safer than being supported.
And so now you don't know how to stop, even when your body is exhausted. Even when your spirit is exhausted, even when the life you [00:03:00] built no longer feels like it belongs to you. You think your strength is protecting you, but your strength may be the very thing keeping you disconnected from yourself. You keep proving how much you can carry while your body keeps absorbing the cost, and eventually, you stop hearing yourself.
Your intuition gets quieter. Your needs get quieter. Your truth gets quieter. Because competence hides collapse beautifully. Sit with that for a second, because this is the part most women immediately try to override. You don't need to become better at coping. That's not the solution. You already know how to survive pressure.
The question is: [00:04:00] Can you still hear yourself underneath it? And honestly, this pattern makes perfect sense to me, because the women I work with are often the women everyone else depends on. The capable ones, the emotionally aware ones, the leaders, the carers, the women who learn very early that falling apart wasn't an option.
So instead of breaking down, they adapted. They became hyper-responsible, hyper-aware, hyper-capable. And for a while, that adaptation works, until the nervous system starts treating every day like a constant state of pressure. That's why so many strong women feel exhausted, even when they're doing [00:05:00] everything right.
Their body never actually feels safe enough to put anything down. And this is the question I want you to really sit with: Who are you when you're not performing strength for everyone else? Not useful, not needed, not holding everything together. You.
I just want you to put your hand on your chest and breathe. And just notice what part of you feels exhausted from carrying so much alone.
Don't explain it. Just- Feel it.
This is the work I support [00:06:00] women through, not teaching you how to become stronger. You already know how to survive. I help women reconnect to themselves underneath the pressure, responsibility, emotional labor, and survival patterns they've been carrying for years, so you can stop living from exhaustion and start making decisions from alignment again.
And if this episode speaks to you, I wanna hear from you. Email me. Tell me what you've been carrying on your own because sometimes women listen to this podcast for months before they finally say the thing out loud, and that matters most. My email is in the show notes. You don't have to hold everything alone before you're fully ready.
And if your nervous system feels overwhelmed even hearing this, [00:07:00] the ground clear protect meditation is a gentle place to start, not to fix you, just to help your body become quiet enough to hear yourself again. You'll find it in the show notes. You are allowed to stop performing strength all the time.
You are allowed to be supported too. And just because survival taught you to carry everything alone doesn't mean that's the life you're meant to keep living. Just because it was doesn't mean it will be. And when you're ready to stop disappearing inside responsibility, I'll be here ready and waiting.
With love, Carina.
